How long does it take for a new word submission to make it into the app?
It depends – new word submissions are reviewed to make sure it’s not a duplicate, and also if it’s really worthy of making it into the app since not all words can actually be in the dictionary. Stuff like racial or religious slurs or offensive content won’t fly – by me and certainly not by Apple. If the word is a good one though, it typically makes it into the dictionary immediately and the next time you fire-up the app it will update automatically and you should see it. If you’ve submitted a word and I’ve not responsed back ping me again and I’ll let you know what’s up.
I enabled the “Shake” feature for showing random words. When I shake the device nothing happens.
You can shake the device to display a random redneck word from the Search screen, when it’s displaying the list of all the words. You should see a little graphic that appears at the bottom of the screen that says “Shake for a Random Word”.
The new v3.0 version includes notifications for the latest Redneck word-of-the-day. Where can I turn this setting on/off? When do the notifications appear?
Go to your general app Settings, Notifications and click on the RedneckWord icon. From there you’ll see 3 on/off settings – Sounds, Alerts and Badges. You can turn on/off the notifications from appearing with the Alerts option. The notifications are sent once/day, typically around 9:00am PST (U.S.)
